Sweet Mercy by K.A. Tucker
4.0

I’ve listened to K.A. Tucker’s work before, so I was eager to see where this one would go. She always delivers on the spice, and I was definitely in the mood for a dose of that.

Right from the start, the narration stands out. Alex Kydd, in particular, brings a vibrant energy that really elevates the story. The chemistry between the performers was spot on, and the spice level hit just the right note—intense and compelling without ever feeling overdone.

This isn’t a standalone novel, which is worth knowing going in. It sets the stage for the Empire Nightclub series by establishing character dynamics and plot threads that clearly have room to grow. There is a cliffhanger at the end, not a high-stakes, “hold on for dear life” kind of suspense, but more of an unresolved ending that leaves you curious. Luckily, with the next book already out, I’m excited to start right away and see what happens next.

While the plot felt a little light in this installment, it seems purposeful. This book acts more like a springboard for what's to come, and I’m intrigued to see how the story evolves from here.
