Not exactly what I was expecting when I picked this title. Still, a good read. I was afraid at first it was going to be very tropey, but I felt like the author steered away from those and the work is original. I want to read the rest of this series, but I may read the books from the other series first as I understand the publication order rather than chronological is how these books should be read.
