The Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven
5.0

"Look at Vaughan. He's done everything I've done. He drank beer, had sex, sent a nude picture. And he just got an offer from Stanford. Why is his life worth more than mine, just because he's rich and male"

BEST BOOK I'VE READ ALL YEAR (and probably in the last few years).

God I don't know where to begin. But this book is SO FUNNY (I want to type everything in caps because I'm VERY EXCITED, but I'll try to keep it low). Laura used the perfect combination of humour and drama. I laughed out loud so many times, but I also cried a lot.

Izzy is a really funny teenager who lost her parents 13 years ago and has lived with her grandma ever since. She processes this loss through jokes and self spot. When she has sex with two boys on a party, someone leaks a photo of one of these intercourses. After this, her life becomes filled with bullying and slut shaming. Her coping mechanism of humour helps her to keep moving forward and is hilarious to read.

I seriously cannot wait to read the sequel and I will put in one final quote to show how funny this book is:
“Through sheer nerves and stress, my stomach almost plummets through my asshole. [I realize this is a hideous thing to say, but you all know exactly what I mean, and I shall not apologize for vocalizing the sensation.]”
