The Thousandth Floor
by Katharine McGee
I ate this book up tbh… pretty much gossip girl meets pretty little liars (I have only seen the pilot episodes of both these shows but one can Assume) but set in 2118
I picked this book up bc I thought it was one of those charming YA dystopian books from my benevolent childhood & when I realized it was Not, I was completely prepared to hate it. Now imagine my surprise when I found myself fully enjoying this delightful piece of fiction. Characters were phenomenal; I found myself liking all of them (mostly). Side characters were a delight to be around! Plot was somehow gripping and engaging despite there being no real plot ?? (The book is set around the secrets of the main cast of characters & how those secrets end up coming to light) I genuinely did not see the ending coming. (how dare you Katharine) I have the sequel in my sights – as soon as I recover from page 423.
the missing .5 is b/c, despite the author's many attempts at justification, I simply could not get behind the psuedo incest… …
ALSO bonus points: wuh luh wuh ! & from a 2016 book? do i live under a rock or is that a little rare?
