Mooncakes is really cute. It's an f/nb romance, with casual acceptance of that (a quick correction of the nonbinary character's pronouns, no visible sign that anyone would ever mind the queer relationship), lesbian grandparents, and supportive family dynamics. One of the main characters is Deaf, and her hearing aids are depicted and not forgotten in certain scenes or anything.

I like the art, and as soon as I settled in I found it really easy to follow the flow (as a non-visual person, this isn't always easy for me). I may have fallen rather in love with a very minor character, a little helpful spirit who looks like a butterfly and is quite ready to put its fists up and fight if things it cares about are in danger.

Nova and Tam's relationship is based on a childhood friendship (and crush), allowing it to grow quickly without feeling strange: Nova's support of Tam, and Tam's acceptance into Nova's family, are lovely. And of course, there's the grandmothers, fiercely supportive of Nova, but obviously also having a life outside her, and obviously still in love with one another.
