Half a War by Joe Abercrombie

My rating could have been affected how long ago I had read the 2nd book. I didn't feel attached to the characters and I was getting frustrated by how the familiar characters were getting treated by the author. The best part of the novel was that I finished it and felt a sense of closure. Here is why I didn't care for it as much as the rest of the series-
SpoilerBrand!! really?? And as for making Father Yarvi as evil as the people that he's fighting? I get it that the author was showing that there aren't any "good" people and they all just came full circle to how the first book had started where the monsters were leading the world. I felt beaten over the head with that concept. Both the old and the new characters were short changed except for Koll and Rin. No one else got a real happy ending. There were satisfactory endings I suppose. Basically, I felt cheated and I wish I hadn't given the time that I had to this series. Next time, I'll give into my first instinct and stop after the first book, which means that I'm now inspired to call it done with other series where I haven't continued after book 1.
