The Tulip Touch by Anne Fine
3.0
Read the play version in one sitting since I'll be teaching it starting tomorrow (yay, procrastination!). I actually enjoyed the characters, and I thought the plot was dynamic. However, I didn't like the ending. Why do all of these modern British "classics" that I'm forced to teach have to have such depressing endings? DNA was far worse, but still. I think that these messages could be conveyed just as effectively in a manner that is more positive. I get that it may be more realistic this way, but my kids who come from crappy home lives shouldn't receive a blanket message that no one cares enough, so they're basically fucked for life.
