Molly Lynch is an investigative journalist who has been assigned to do a piece on Chicago Blaze hockey player, Kit. While it's not her usual type of story, she is still determined to write a great piece with some really deep details about his life. The unexpected attraction between them is off the charts but they both have fears that are holding them back.
One thing I know I can always count on with Brenda Rothert’s is an emotional book. Kit and Molly had a great, slow building relationship that was extremely emotional. I really liked Molly. She was a hard working woman who has hid her heart away since her divorce. She is afraid of opening herself up again but when she does she doesn’t let anything hold her back, including Kit.
Kit was a great hero who was surprisingly protective of Molly. Kit may be a hockey player, but he is also a very private person. He has a hidden secret from his childhood that still impacts him today. It causes some problems with his and Molly’s relationship, until he finally confronts it and opens up to Molly about it. Rothert does a great job at writing about such a difficult topic, especially with such a short book. I also really love that this book shows that being traumatized doesn’t mean you can’t still have a relationship. It just means you have to have an accepting partner who accepts those parts of you.
Overall, this was a great addition to the series. I can’t wait to read the next book, which is going to be the last. I am sad this series is coming to an end but look forward to reading her next series.
