It Sounded Better in My Head by Nina Kenwood

5.0

It Sounded Better In My Head by Nina Kenwood is such a well-written YA with really relatable, well-drawn characters. This book was genuinely funny and some parts were so cringey (in a very relatable way) that it made my teenage self feel so seen, and as a result, I had so much compassion for not only the younger me, but the MCs.

I liked that this book depicted life and relationships (of all kinds) as messy and not perfect, but there was a good amount of growth in the characters for me. I read this in a day, and I honestly didn't want it to end. I am slightly mad things weren't all tied up or resolved completely at the end. But at the same time, it feels real because this book is just a pit stop in their lives, on the precipice of new beginnings and a new stage of life. So I get it. Mostly, I'm just mad I didn't get to keep reading because I would love to follow along on that next stage as well. (hint: please write a sequel).

As soon as I finished, I started her second book Unnecessary Drama and somehow, loved it even more. I will gladly now read anything and everything Nina Kenwood writes and I hope in the future she also writes an adult fiction. Highly recommend.
