Mini-review: I may have liked this more had I not just finished The Bee Sting. It’s difficult to compare the experience of these two books since this one is so much more compact - a snapshot of a particular moment in a family’s life. The understated depiction of the sisters’ relationship and the relationship of the main character with her father were lovely, as well as the depiction of how the main character navigates her relation to Gujarati culture (and by extension, her connection with her mother). That said, I’m already beginning to forget certain parts of this book.
