Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
3.0
My first Nicholas Sparks book and I have to say I am utterly impressed. I'd seen a few movies but never been able to finish them, including Dear John. When I saw it in the library, I thought why not? I'm glad I did.
This book was irresistibly sappy and I couldn't set it down throughout the night. Last night I promised myself 30 minutes, but soon it was 2:30am and I was less than 20 pages from finishing it.
To be honest, it was not my type of book. I'm not a big fan of the sappy/cry-your-heat-out love stories. I found John and Savannah first two weeks together not believable and overly filled with feelings. For a tough guy, John sure has a lot of feelings that he feels like always talking about.
But the book redeemed itself. Although it was a bit predictable, I loved that he let her go so she could have happiness. The final scene is perfection, with them both looking up at the moon.
