Look, the pacing of this book was not it for me. A big hype up that fell short. It was very inconsistent. I understand that it's slower at times because we're really building up the tension and the shock and the mystery. But in those moments, it felt like it dragged. And in the faster moments, I felt like it was just trying to finish as quickly as possible.
I really think Nick and Amy were toxic for each other, and their relationship made me angry, so I really didn't care for them? It's hard to enjoy a book with no characters to root for.
I also was pretty disappointed with the end, which felt like a lot of build up for it to be very anticlimactic (imo).
Overall, an alright book. I don't regret having read it, but it was definitely overhyped for me.
