The Infinite Sea
by Rick Yancey
How could I rate this perfect book? Five stars seems so little for the amount of feelings this book has awakened in me.
I particulary enjoyed the different points of view. Cassie was my favorite in the first book, but and Ringer's had a plus. We got to know more about the intentions behind the others' actions. And we even got to know a few blow minding revelations. Oh, and the chapters of Poundcake were specially tearful.
The inclusion of new characters was nice, and Razor was my favorite by far. His development was a little surprising, considering his first apparition. Ugh, I can't say much without start feeling like a punch in my heart.
The ending was epic, and perfect and everything. Now I'm feeling anxious for the third book.
The Best
The plot surprises, of course. And the pace. Everything is so exciting!
The least Best
The death of certain character... if that person is really dead, of course (crossing fingers. I really hope not). It was really hard to read THAT scene, but its perfection is undeniable.
The Quote
There are three. The first is so beautiful, the second is devastating because the moment it's said is highly emotional... and the third is so true.
“Who is Cassiopeia?"
"The one who stood up when anyone else would have stayed down.” Evan said. “The one I couldn’t stop thinking about before I even knew her. The last one, Grace. The last human being on Earth.”
And his soft, soulful eyes lift up to mine, at the end of a trajectory that even Vosch failed to predict. “You’re free”.
It isn’t that the lies are too beautiful to resist. It’s that the truth is too hideous to face.
