I can’t put my finger on exactly why, but when Nora Roberts writes “badass” characters like Blaire I find them shallower and far less interesting than the other female tropes she tends towards. This book picked up the pace after the first book fairly well but I’m not sure how much I would have been motivated to finish were I not interested in getting to Cian and Moira’s story.
