“It was too soon for me to ask him for any promises, and it was certainly too soon for him to offer any.”

Sorry, Well Met. It’s not you, it’s me… unless it isn’t, and you’re just boring.
I’ve been going through it recently, so it’s hard to say.

If it is you, it’s because enemies-to-lovers doesn’t work in contemporary. It especially doesn’t work when the parties involved change their tune like they’re tone-deaf. It’s one thing to jump from hate to lust, but it’s another thing entirely to jump from hostility to tenderness. Which isn’t to say that the hostility between Emily and Simon ever made much sense in the first place.

Basically, this is what happened:
“Hi. I’m Simon, and I’m a micromanager.”
“Hi, Simon. I’m Emily, and I took that personally.”

Wait, never mind. He’s grieving, so now he’s hot and she’s completely smitten. Oh, and apparently so is he.
Since when? Unclear.
So how do we know he’s actually into her? Aside from the kiss he plants on her out of nowhere? The bystanders say so.

Sike, it’s third act breakup time and there’s 3 chapters and an epilogue left.
*Insert grand gesture*
Ah, all better now. The end.
