I read this right after Bunny (also by Mona Awad) and wasn’t as impressed. There were some unexplained plot elements that left me unsatisfied. I wanted to know more about Rouge! I also had a hard time connecting to and empathizing with the mother character, which feels like a key part of enjoying this story. That being said, I thought the concept was very intriguing (a culty blend of the Grimm version of Snow White and The Substance). This book takes you on a wild ride if you’re willing to suspend your disbelief a bit.
