The Night of Legends by Leslie W
4.0

This is the first fantasy / sci-fi book from a Singaporean author that I've read, and I'm glad to come across this via Jacq's bookstagram channel : onechapterleft.

The Night of Legends is a fast-paced action-packed narrative, which suits an impatient reader like me very well. I definitely got Neon Genesis Evangelion X Alice in Wonderland vibes.

Some of the things I enjoyed were:

- Insanely strong heroine that's great at hand to hand combat - Keix. GO GIRL
- Witty dialogues and personalities: so much fun.
- Author had a wild imagination and wasn't afraid to use it
- Possible love triangle with two hot dudes Dace, Zej, and our heroine Keix (at least I hope so!)
- Sisterhood bond with Vin (Keix's best friend)
- Two awesome mysterious poems in the form of Ifarl legends

Some things that held me back were:
- At points I was quite as confused as Keix was about the whole situation. So who's oka? Wait how big is Atros, do they operate in just that city or country or?
- There was a character introduced briefly and then something unfortunate happens to this character almost right away - I didn't have time to get attached to this character and so the event didn't affect me emotionally.

Overall, I'm glad to have read this book and looking forward to the sequel which the author is currently working on!
