Fruits Basket, Vol. 1 by Natsuki Takaya
4.0
This isn't something I'd typically like. It's sickeningly sweet, and I can't say I really like Tohru. She's a little too bubbly for my liking, and also a little bit to, uh, dense. Living in a tent because she didn't want to trouble her friends or family? During a typhoon? C'mon, now, girl, you're risking your life!
All the same, I did like it, and that's mostly because of the mythology behind it. Not necessarily the transforming-as-animals-when-hugged-by-opposite-gender but the reincarnation part.
The art is lovely, too.
