I had to read this book for class and while I really did enjoy the discussion surrounding the book ( and learning more about India and Hinduism(s)) The book itself was just okay. The flow of the book was very choppy, which I believe was intentional by the author, but for me it was offputting. There is some mature content including sexual assault, rape, murder, and suicide. These elements may be difficult for some. The ending was very abrupt and I did not like how it was tied up. In a lot of ways the book felt messy and unorganized, which I do believe was intentional and I can see why the author would do that, I personally was not a fan.

I am glad that I read this book and I would recommend it to others who are wanting to read literature from other cultures but personally it was just ok.
