A woman’s mother used to tell her cryptic Korean folklore that seemed to blend with reality. As an adult, her and her imaginary friend begin to decode the stories and discover more secrets about their history.

The description of this book, to me, seems misleading. I thought this was going to be way MORE about the folklore but really it’s a family drama. Once I realized that and caught on I didn’t hate it but still wanted more of the folklore side. This is a great look inside the Korean-American generational immigrant lens and like I said, a lot of family drama. It’s because of what I feel was a bait and switch is why I give this a 3.5/5 if I had known it was more family drama than folklore going in I probably wouldn’t have read it.
