The Second Life of Nick Mason
by Steve Hamilton
Writing was good but the story itself was a bit cheesy to me. Very similar to any “gangster “ prison story.
Main character has “rules” he lives by.
He tells the cops and the bad guys “no” and that pretty much is totally fine. (Riiight)
Based in Chicago which apparently makes it automatically gangster. (But it’s set in current day)
Steals aspects from The Usual Suspects (maybe the author though we forgot?)
It even goes down to the hand-to-hand fight at the end.
