started strong but then fizzled out at the end had no clue about what was happening honestly in the last few chapters. well-paced but the magic system and the setting was a little hard to grasp. really nice prose and the twist at the end was unexpected. my favorite thing about this book was the little codes and drawings they had to solve but i have to admit the rest of the plot was underwhelming.
i liked zofia and hypnos the most. there were too much severin chapters and i really wanted more input from the rest of the cast. the dialogue was good though and the tension between severin and laila was well written. i feel pretty neutral about this book at the moment but i do hope to like this cast more in the sequel.
