I discovered Candice Fox when I picked up Crimson Lake. I’m all caught up on that series so I was excited to see a new book by Fox. Unfortunately this one just didn’t work for me. I never connected with Celine and did not find her adversarial relationship with Kraddle credible. The big reveal of the real killer was odd and underwhelming and the ending was both tidy and open ended-it’s clearly the first in a new series. I did not care for the narration at all. Over exaggerated Southern accents were distracting and unnecessary. Disappointing, but not a dealbreaker with the author.
