Vuong’s prose is impeccable. It conveys unfathomable depth of thought while appeasing the eye and the mind. Many times I found myself rereading a line, perhaps two, unable to grasp its meaning initially. Words lie on a page, but meaning only develops in the mind with time. I loved this book as it challenged me so. A sharp juxtaposition from the life I have experienced, the nature of Little Dog’s existence is brutally blunt when conveyed.
