This book was absolutely incredible. It had everything you want from a romantasy.

It has enemies-to-lovers romance, dragons, great banter, war, some political conflict, a unique magic system, slow burn with combustible chemistry, betrayal and everything in between.

The writing is fantastic and the world building is seamless without being overwhelming.

The chemistry between Xaden and Violet was insane. You could feel the intensity of of their chemistry dripping from the pages.

The pacing is good. We start out incredibly strong by the end of the first chapter, but I feel like the pacing evens out. We get lots of action through the book with a massive climax at the end and the kind of cliffhanger that doesn't hurt but makes you SO excited for what's next! Two books in this world isn't going to be enough. I'll want more.

The only thing I disliked was the time jumping. Rebecca Yarros liked to tease us then jump a month ahead. Now they're trying to cover an entire year in this book so time jumps are to be expected, but I would have read this book if it was 800 pages and had less time jumps 😅
