The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown

Did not finish book.
DNF’d @ 62%. I enjoyed this and slowly it fizzled out. I was expecting more details of her research but it was more so a reflection of her results and thoughts. I understand why this book is so important for some and her hypothesis is truly interesting. Her work on Shame is fantastic and when she spoke of releasing shame by speaking about it, that was a revolutionary point to me. Shame is extremely difficult to talk about. But in many ways I felt this book didn’t provide examples of many people who might benefit from these ideas: for example, who do the people with no social support network turn to to talk about their shame? How about those without the financial means to access support or help? I wish it had dove deeper into some of the topics and there was more variety in examples. Many were her stories and weren’t particularly relatable.
