Shameless Play by Kelly Finley
fast-paced
- Strong character development? No
- Loveable characters? No
- Diverse cast of characters? No
I'm not giving this any stars because it is most definitely not for me. If I had to, I'd probably only give it 2 stars and that's not fair.
For me, this book is like coffee. I know lots of people really enjoy it but I'm not one of those people. I thought from the summary that there'd be more plot than there is. It's basically a ton of kinks loosely held together with a plot string. Very loosely. The characters' internal monologues are repetitive, annoying, and nonsensical. I never bought into the whole 'we can't be together long-term' narrative.
Like Blair, I'm not into kink-shaming. I'm glad books like this exist but I prefer more plot in my spicy stories. Also, this should have been listed as a prequel instead of a novella. That cliffhanger ending is annoying and rubbed me the wrong way.
