Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah
5.0
This book was made for audiobook, as Noah narrates in several languages and with varying accents that won't come across through writing on a page.
Noah is a truly masterful storyteller. I loved the structure and pacing of his anecdotes, and each carries the penetrating human insight that Noah is known for. I normally feel that autobiographies aren't engaging or deep enough to hold my interest, but I would recommend this to anyone. I'll be the first to admit, I'm not always guffawing when I watch the Daily Show, but this is also genuinely funny.
A movie is in the works, so read this before the narrative arcs gets spoiled in that press circuit!
