There were some cringey dialogue that I couldn’t picture being said in a world of ogres, elves and magic. Page 2: “The arena is unpredictable as fuck.” Immediately took me out of the scene and made me laugh in disbelief. Some parts of the arena battles needed more/better descriptions, I simply couldn’t follow what was happening (maybe that’s my bad). Their relationship felt too fast for the story. Also! The first thing they do when they are reunited after he finds out she kept his family’s death a secret is run into each other's arms and have sex?? I’ll give the author credit, Maeve did apologize as soon as they were done having sex but damn!
The story ended sweetly, him crying in her arms. Then the epilogue starts with, “It’s hotter than a fire bull’s ball sack down here.” Way to kill the vibes thank you very much. I don’t know if I care about the story enough to continue…
