Persepolis Rising by James S.A. Corey

4.0

At 7 books I think most readers are in this for the long haul. The only reviews that might make a difference at this point are if the book is terrible, which Persepolis Rising most certainly is not.

What I think is worthwhile to express is that this one feels like a prologue/first book to a new series within the series. Not as a good jumping on point but as a new paradigm. Yes the story continues from book 6, but the time jump is significant and the characters are not quite the same people they were decades ago within the story. And the setting as a whole has been rebuilt and restructured. None of this is bad in my mind, I find it an extremely effective way to show off the ramifications of everything built up to in book 6 and to set up a new enough situation for the final 3 book act.

The strongest point for this book is how excited it got me to jump into book 8. There's no stopping at book 7 for me. My only dilemma was whether to read book 8 straight away or pace myself and I've gone with pace myself. It's 11 months until Leviathan Falls releases, so halfway there I'll read book 8 and then flip and burn until we finally reach book 9 and the series stops. I'm excited to see what comes next.
