Skyhunter
by Marie Lu
Few people can build a terrifyingly beautiful world like Marie Lu. I was immediately sucked in by the Ghosts and the Strikers who hunt them. Our heroine has lost her ability to speak by the ongoing war between nations and I loved how what may be viewed as a disability ended up working to her advantage as a Striker. I loved the back story of her family and people as refugees and how she justifies fighting in this elite military force for a country she only recently called home. I loved all of the action and the side characters, and the central mystery around the Skyhunter is intriguing. My only complaint was that the romance felt forced and there were a few plot devices that felt a bit convenient rather than organic. But I was thoroughly entertained and am looking forward to the sequel.
