Just Like Us: The True Story of Four Mexican Girls Coming of Age in America by Helen Thorpe

3.0

I learned a lot from this book, and I enjoyed the stories about the girls' lives. However, the author was a little bit too centrist for me and the book had a lot of "both sides are valid" sort of narrative, which...maybe is a fair point in cases like Isbel Morales, but not really in cases of extreme xenophobes like Tom Tancredo.

I will say, the author was pretty clear in her stance of disagreeing with Tancredo, and I know she was just doing her work as a journalist of trying to be as impartial as possible. But again, it was just a little too centrist for me personally.
