The Book of Deacon
by Joseph R. Lallo
I found this story among collection of stories "Quest, Eight novels of fantasy..." on smashword and it was free. I enjoyed the story, but I noticed that first part of book is too grim, while second part of book is without serious conflict. It was very captivating and interesting, but it's obvious Myranda has plot armor and I don't mind characters having plot armor (since they are needed in the story), but Myranda was in dangerous situation way too many times and it get old very quickly. Each of her training bring something new, but book dwells on training bit too much. I will recommend it to people who like Harry Potter, but I find it lacks action and drama, while it has numerous fake and overdone dangerous situations.
