I think the story is very fascinating and interesting, and definitely a page-turner, but I just don't love it that much and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the confusing family tree.
It's a document of a family, a town, and many lonely hearts. Towards the end of the book I can no longer distinguish what is real and what is fantasy, just like the many characters. For me, the story is so unique and I've never read something like this before. The repeating names and fates and personalities of the Buendia family are the center of this story, just like time is frozen, circling, or outright broken. We see all of the Buendias getting stuck in this flow of time, pre-determined by their fates, and they all return to solitude in different ways at the end of their lives. Also I find the ending quite satisfying, giving the story a "sensible" reason. The touch on colonization, nation, identity and love is definitely thought-provoking. Perhaps the part I enjoyed the most is that the same situations keep occurring for the Buendia family. just when you think it's finally over and we can move on, they creep back without a trace and again send the characters into abyss, like the kid with a pig tail right in the end. Definitely a classics and I can see why so many people love it, but for me the slow pace with all the very-confusing similar names and the time jumps make the book at times tasking to go through. But at the end of the day I really enjoyed the read, and I'll definitely check out more magical realism in the future.
很喜歡最後一章對於馬康多的形容:鏡之孤城/海市蜃樓,太貼切了。我覺得或許是前面的敘述很繁瑣又慢步調,讓我在進到大概七成之後才開始很喜歡這個故事。
