The Bhagavad Gita by Eknath Easwaran
5.0
I'm not sure if Easwaran did this intentionally in his translation, but I was surprised to find how close Krishna's main ideas are to classical theism. The translation was clear and beautiful, and Easwaran's introduction to each chapter simplified complex ideas brilliantly by comparing them to the ideas of mystics like St. John of the Cross, St. Theresa of Avila, and Meister Eckhart.
I have read Easwaran's translation of the Upanishads as well and will probably read his translation of the Dhammapada in the future; I'm really curious to hear more of his thoughts on comparative religion for sure.
