The themes and ideas are so fun. His travels are like an older version of the Little Prince. I get why the first half of the book are the sections people refer to because it starts to draaaaaag. The later chapter have interesting philosophies but the settings don't feel as fun and the pacing and interest really dip. I also think the frame story of his family should have just been omitted or replaced with reference to friends. For all that this book builds the narrator as this empathetic chameleon, he sure abandons his wife and children without much thought...
