Taken by the Alpha Priest by Chloe Parker

5.0

I don’t typically re-read (with a few exceptions) but when I saw that Chloe Parker revamped this story, I knew I needed to. It was one of my favorite reads back in 2023, so it was no hardship to revisit Reyes & Tilda’s story. And I loved it just as much this time as I did last time — their romance is a true enemies to lovers and I love the tension that is there at first, and the fact that despite the circumstances that kept them together, they really do organically fall in love through Tilda helping the pack, integrating into the pack. The beautiful thing about their relationship is that it’s not *just* about falling in love, it’s about finding family, acceptance, a place where she’s appreciated and welcomed — wanted. Not just for what she can do or provide but for her. Tilda falls in love with Reyes, but she also finds her home. She makes a best friend, unexpected allies, wins over Reyes’ friends, and steals his heart. And I think the revisions helped really drive that home, so I’m really happy that I read it again. And I’m really excited that there’s more to come. I love their pack and can’t wait to read more of them.

I’m including my original review for this below because it all rings true still, its a bit more spoiler-y though so I’ll insert it below the see more break:

This book was so much more than I was expecting. I saw a teaser graphic that explained the k!nks and tropes and said to myself “oh that sounds like a fantastic smut, sign me up”, and immediately borrowed it from KU.

I wasn’t expecting it to strike a chord the way it did. I am not someone who believes in God the way that Reyes does, but the way the author wrote his faith — so unshakeable despite everything — and then his faith in his mate, so reverent and complete once he had reconciled his vows, I couldn’t help but feel a little longing for that kind of faith. It was beautiful, honestly. Their relationship once they finally gave into it was beautiful. They complimented each other perfectly and were strong together without compromising either’s true values.

Deep, thought provokingness aside the smut parts were really freakin hot. The promised altar scene was equal parts tender and steamy as hell.
