The Palace of Eros by Caro De Robertis
5.0
im a little insufferable rn due to getting into greek mythology thanks to Epic: The Musical (i think everyone in my irl life is getting a little tired of me singing There Are Other Ways). but anyway this was great :)))
the writing style was amazing, for me its the perfect blend of poetic but not frustrating. also the way transness was discussed in this was CHEFS KISS!!! sometimes i’ll get frustrated with transness in historical fiction (even being a trans man myself), cause it can feel very modern, but to me the discussions of gender felt very realistic for the time and setting. im definitely going to read more Greek mythology retellings soon
