Laws of Physics: Space by Penny Reid

I walked into the second book of “Laws of Physics #2) blind. I didn’t read the synopsis. I had no idea what was going to happen. Nothing! I knew NOTHING! And I am so happy that I did. Not knowing that Mona and Abram were going to spend one week in a private cabin together (and with friends) would have ruined the lovely surprise when Leo walks out of the cabin to greet his sister…with ABRAM! *girly dance time*
These two characters are just plain addictive - to each other and me as the reader. The second part takes place two years after they depart from Chicago and you can tell that they have been on each other’s mind the entire 730 days since they last saw each other. And these 730 days did not diminish their like, lust, and love for each other.
I cannot get enough of Mona and Abram, even when they spend time semi-ignoring each other. The tension between them is exactly what I needed in this book. And in complete Penny Reid fashion, neither character is over-the-top when it comes to interacting with each other. One reason why I always stick with Penny’s books is because her characters are like real people. There is never a moment where I say, “No one in real life would ever do/say/behave that way.” Mona and Abram’s interactions with each other are exactly how every normal person should interact, with grace and dignity.
Even though this was a short section of Mona and Abram being thrown back together again, I felt like it was packed with all kinds of feelings. Switching between Mona and Abram’s POV really gave me a perfect view of how both characters struggled and longed for each other. To add to that, there is this heart-wrenching part where you find that Mona’s family doesn’t really take part in her life. She acknowledges their birthdays and achievements but they never acknowledge hers. But the beauty about this moment is that Abram sees this strong force that is Mona but also sees the loneliness that she has wrapped herself in and his vowel to fix the loneliness captured my heart.
It’s a no brainer that I am waiting for the third (and last) installment of this series. *Watches the clock tick by.*
