The Wife Upstairs
by Rachel Hawkins
I was really engrossed in this story. I am not sure why because it was not exactly 'thrilling' but I think it was the Southern charm -- who knew that was my kinda thing!? But, I have not read Jane Eyre so I went into this not knowing that story and this was a retelling. Maybe that is why I was disappointed with the end. No plot twists... just a story, which is fine - but as a thriller, I expect a few twists and turns. I guess those did exist but the ending fell flat for me. Still a solid 4 star thriller (which, let's be honest -- that is sooo typical for me anyway).
