I’ve missed truly enjoying a reading experience. And this book gave it all. The difficult parts were really hard to get through, explains why I took a longer time.

One of my FAVOURITEST quotes I’ve read is from Mary H.K. Choi, Yolk — “I hate how I’ve upgraded this fuckstick’s life in any way. Especially this way. That this asshole now knows how superior Shin Ramyun Black is to regular Shin Ramyun by the grace of an extra flavour packet and all that bonus garlic. This fucker doesn’t deserve bonus garlic.”

“If I so much see you at H Mart”—I get right in his face—“or even Sunrise Mart, I will fucking ruin you.”

Bonus quote is this one — “I stare at the black square of cocktail napkin under the foot of my glass. There isn’t even a ring. Fucker didn’t even spill a drop on his way over. That’s what we’re dealing with. As I lift it, it dribbles onto my lap.”

Choi has SUCH a charming way with words. Her command for emotions interlaced with humour and humanness, has me audibly chuckling. Her sensitivity with pain, grief and trauma has me physically holding onto my heart for fear it breaking.
