I considered dnfing it so many times but I wanted to know how the girl found herself in this situation, so I kept reading. Totally not worth it. This book is so weird, inconsistent and cringe.
The guy can't learn more than 3 words but his inner monologue has "transcendental" in it? Cmon
Also it felt like Stockholm syndrome story, she basically just gave up because she wouldn't survive otherwise and he refused to let her go anyway. It's really hard to believe in any deeper feelings when they have never really talked to each other.
