Beasts of War by Ayana Gray

4.0

This was such a strong final instalment in the trilogy. I think this book Did such a good job with reconnecting all the different story threads that were set up in the previous books because there was a lot going on. I think this was really impactful as there were consequences to their choices, and none of the characters were perfect.

I still love Koffi and Ekon’s relationship, and I think it has developed so well from where it started in the first book. I do think that the love triangle aspect for both of them was solved a little clunkily because with what happened to Zain and then Safiyah just leaving meant I didn’t find it as satisfying as them just choosing each other, but the epilogue definitely makes up for that.

Reading Akande’s story alongside this one, was really interesting because he had a completely different relationship with Splendor than Koffi did, and how that shaped him into who he became. I did briefly forget who he was at the start because he wasn’t really mentioned that much in the previous books.
