The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets by Simon Singh

4.0

This suffered a little from not having a wonderful narrative like Fermat's Last Theorem (covering all of the history of mathematics and then Andrew Wiles' quest to solve the theorem), but this was still a lovely read. Simon Singh is incredibly talented at communicating complex mathematical ideas in a simple, engaging way.

I feel like the title of the book is a bit overly scandalous, as much of the inside is just documenting several writers' background in maths, then pulling out specific references in the show and expanding the ideas with history and discussion - hardly 'secrets'. But maybe I have an eye for the references in the show because I'm interested in them. Still, some great things I didn't know about, wonderful Simpsons and Futurama easter eggs, and impeccably written explanations.
