Foe is a slow-burning psychological thriller. Almost the entire story takes place in one farmhouse as we wait for the narrator to be taken for mandatory duty on a space station. The story gives a confined, claustrophobic feeling, as we see through the eyes of a man who is trying to come to grips with leaving his the life he knows. There are several places where the reader can be get led astray, but the penultimate twist feels fairly obvious. That last one though? Phew. Did not see that coming!
