Anthony Bourdain's Hungry Ghosts by Joel Rose, Anthony Bourdain

2.0

The six sub-stories were slight, to me, and not terribly scary. The images seemed to embrace gore for shock value and not to a storytelling end. The recipes at the end were a fun touch, but, I mean, one of them was for meatballs. Bourdain allegedly finished this before his death, but it feels like maybe it hadn't met his final approval yet. Maybe I'm being too harsh, and shock-horror has never been my thing, so YMMV. But for me, I was hoping for a bigger, better send-off from this larger-than-life personality.
