To Believe in Women: What Lesbians Have Done For America - A History by Lillian Faderman

challenging informative inspiring medium-paced

4.0

While I think this study suffers slightly from being almost two decades old, particularly in terms of gendered approach and the ways non-white-anglosaxon women of the upper class are somewhat sidelined, I still found it incredibly useful in terms of framing the period of Boston and Wellesley colleges and a lot of forgotten US women's history. Extremely readable, straightforward, good starting place for American women in the late 19th - early 20th centuries.
