Ancillary Justice
by Ann Leckie
I'm glad I gave this book until the 100th page. I had a lot of trouble getting in to it at first -- I couldn't really empathize or identify with any of the characters, and I wasn't sure why anything was happening, which made it hard to keep track of the plot events. But somewhere around page 80 - 90, something big changed in the story that I will not spoil, and it instantly gripped me from there. I will be recommending this book to others and will happily seek out the sequels. What a unique take on AI personhood, space politics, etc.
