Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

4.0

I wish I could know if I would've appreciated this better if it hadn't been so hyped up by the rest of the world.

I really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it. It's a nice little primer on feminism with some fun science winks and a little bit of self help thrown in but the actual plot felt incidental next to the author trying to make points. All of the characters feel like "characters" rather than actual human beings.

It was pretty obviously written by a person that's not actually in science so it has a fake nerd vibe that can really bug me but other than the overuse of jargon it wasn't as bad as it could've been. Also the narrator mispronounced "Jack LaLanne" through the whole book and he's mentioned like 18 times so that was annoying af, but this is an audiobook problem.

Despite my complaints, it's still a fun book and worth a read.
