The Acts Of Life by Kristin Mulligan

challenging dark emotional funny mysterious tense fast-paced

5.0

THE ACTS OF LIFE is about twins Sam and Stella. Born only minutes apart, they grew up to be best friends and lifelong adversaries. Sam usually ignores Stella’s jabs about who’s better at life, but that changes when Harper comes into his life. Sam’s unexpected one-night stand has the potential to be so much more - so why isn’t Stella happy for her brother? In fact, is Stella really happy or just acting the part? What other secrets is she keeping, and do they involve Sam?

This book is INCREDIBLE. It’s steamy as hell but is also a wicked psychological thriller with 2 POVs that gave me major YOU vibes. I loved Harper in all her complexity and flaws, and honestly I wanted to hug poor Sam all the time.
And shall we talk about that biggest twist EVER? 🤯 GENIUS. Did I screech and wake up my son? Maybe. Do I regret it? Hell no.

For me, THE ACTS OF LIFE checked all the boxes that make a book unforgettable: there was romance, there was suspense, there was Drama (with capital D) and compelling characters. I felt completely immersed into the world the author created and I flew through the pages, never wanting the book to end. AMAZING is all I have to say 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
